Krista & Rex: Two Rock Stars & A Unicorn
Krista & Rex are avid winter sports athletes from Vancouver who got engaged on a snowshoeing adventure in Whistler. Before they even met each other they had both dreamed of one day meeting the love of their life and honeymooning on Bora Bora.
Krista says: I can't even begin to describe the honeymoon we experienced. French Polynesia was our destination of choice from the first day we announced our engagement. As we are both world travelers, finding an exotic location that we'd both not been to was challenging, but Rangiroa and Bora Bora fit the bill perfectly. After planning an out of town wedding, changing careers and moving within a short span of time, we knew that relaxation and romance were in order. We usually plan our own vacations but there is no way that we would have been able to organize and pull off such an amazing honeymoon adventure. Pacific for Less was by far the most knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. Claudia, Jennifer, and the whole team effortlessly put together our dream vacation.
We went into our vacation without holding back but somehow both resorts (the St. Regis on Bora Bora and the Hotel Kia Ora on Rangiroa ) managed to exceed our expectation tenfold. The St. Regis was the most amazing 5 nights of our lives. We felt as if we were rock stars every moment of our stay, and I swear I think the beds are made of unicorn hair! Our arrival to the resort in our private boat, greeted with beverages and fragrant towels, made the level of service very apparent. Our days were spent relaxing in our private upgraded Deluxe Overwater Villa bungalow, and snorkeling off our dock. Occasionally we ventured out to the pool and bar to enjoy uniquely hand-crafted cocktails. One evening we attended the Polynesian dance show and enjoyed a traditional buffet. Definitely a must-see!
Venturing over to the main land of Bora Bora was convenient and easy. We spent a day adventuring around the island on ATVs and jet skis which allowed us to view the whole island in a short amount of time. We also learned survival skills from our guide... we now know how to crack a coconut in the wild!
A trash-the-dress photoshoot was a must for us, and our photographer exceeded our expectations. We aren't models but he produced the most gorgeous photos I have ever seen!
Our two favorite
would have to be the Motu Tapu Shark and Ray tour by Raanui tours, and the special five-course Epicurean Chef's Tasting Menu at Villa Mahana. We were seated at the VIP table, which had the most amazing ambiance ever and the food prepared by Chef Damien was outstanding. As the hostess led us out of the main dining area we thought our reservations were lost, but then we were escorted to our private table.
Our next four nights in the calm but vibrant Rangiroa were exactly what we needed. Plenty of time to unwind in the infinity pool and take in the fact that we were in the middle of the South Pacific! Amazing sunsets, ocean life and food. We definitely miss the hammock and hot tub outside our private Beach Bungalow. The Hotel Kia Ora Resort was a perfect way to end our stay.
As souvenirs we brought back Tahitian vanilla which my husband now uses to brew a delicious Tahitian vanilla whiskey porter (beer). We can't wait to work with the Pacific For Less team to plan our anniversary trip back in a few years.
